Welcome to FairElectricRates.org

We’re the Ohio Electric Utility Institute (OEUI), a non-profit state trade association of investor-owned electric companies, providing electricity to more than 4.8 million Ohioans. We believe that Ohio’s electric consumers deserve a balanced state energy policy that:

  • Provides long-term price stability.
  • Promotes investments in Ohio’s energy infrastructure.
  • Preserves customers’ choice to shop for electricity.
  • Encourages the use of renewable energy, advanced energy technologies, and energy efficiency.
  • Treats all customers—large industrial businesses, small and commercial businesses, and residential customers—fairly, without benefit to one group at the expense of another.

The Ohio General Assembly is currently debating Senate Bill 221, a bill that would make significant changes to the state’s energy policy. OEUI has proposed amendments to S.B. 221; amendments that we believe ensure fair treatment to all customers and a balanced approach to electric policy.
